MARYWOOD ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2010:
Spring 2010
Dear Special Friends of Marywood,
It is my honor as Marywood’s Board President to present highlights of our program services for 2009, to provide you an update on Marywood’s future and most of all, to thank you for your kindness and financial support for Marywood’s mission.
Big news for the new year – Marywood received a $102,000 grant
from the Meadows Foundation.
"Of the many organizations seeking assistance from the Meadows Foundation, there are those that stand out because of their ability to solve community problems or enrich lives in imaginative, innovative ways," said foundation CEO Linda Perryman Evans. “Marywood is among that group."
Prior to this significant grant from the Meadows Foundation in March, we faced the greatest financial challenge to Marywood’s future.
Marywood lost major sources of funding in 2009, from contracts and decreased numbers of adoptions. The agency responded by cutting staff and reducing the work week to four days. Our primary goal was to maintain services to our clients while being financially responsible. We are currently exploring merger possibilities with agencies that serve a similar client base, as well as looking at new fundraising initiatives. We want and expect Marywood to continue to serve adoptive families, children in foster care and pregnant and parenting women. We are proud of Marywood’s 89 year legacy and its impact upon thousands of lives over the course of generations.
We are grateful for the support we have received for maintaining our mission focus. Our volunteers and caring, professional staff will continue the loving spirit and legacy of service that is the hallmark of Marywood.
Sincerely,
Mike Millard, President
Marywood Board of Directors
